A look back at 2012 books!

2012 brought us some very good books, and also ended some much loved series. I thought I would make a post and show you guys some of my favourite books from 2012!

You have probably seen these books mentioned time after time on my blog this year (some more than others), but these are definitely some of my favourite books of 2012, that have made such an impression. All of these helped me to complete my good reads 2012 reading competition :D.

I cant wait to see what books 2013 brings us (CLOCKWORK PRINCESS & IF I SHOULD DIE!), hopefully it brings us many more excellent books!

Happy New Year guys!

Bye for now :D

Help!

This is completely unrelated to books but I need your help guys! I am currently at university and for one of my projects I need people to answer a questionnaire on film photography. If anyone could spare a minute or so to answer it then please do, and no you don't have to do photography to answer it!

Click here to answer it :)

I promise I will be back to blogging about books tomorrow!
Bye for now :)

❅❅ All I Want For Christmas, Book Four! ❅❅

Book four is still from my Christmas list, and as I mentioned before it is the last book from the 'A Song of Ice And Fire' series, that I asked for.

A Dance with Dragons 2: After The Feast - George R.R Martin
Part of the 'A Song of Ice And Fire' series

'The future of the Seven Kingdoms hangs in the balance.

In King’s Landing the Queen Regent, Cersei Lannister, awaits trial, abandoned by all those she trusted; while in the eastern city of Yunkai her brother Tyrion has been sold as a slave. From the Wall, having left his wife and the Red Priestess Melisandre under the protection of Jon Snow, Stannis Baratheon marches south to confront the Boltons at Winterfell. But beyond the Wall the wildling armies are massing for an assault…

On all sides bitter conflicts are reigniting, played out by a grand cast of outlaws and priests, soldiers and skinchangers, nobles and slaves. The tides of destiny will inevitably lead to the greatest dance of all.'

Book Four! Only two more to go after this one, and then it's Christmas! Debating wether or not to do Christmas day's 'All I Want For Christmas' as a video, showing what book I got, or just keep it as a text post. Hmmmm, will have to see what I feel like on the day!

Bye for now :)

❅❅ All I Want For Christmas, Book Three! ❅❅

This is the third in the All I Want For Christmas posts, even though im doing it straight after book two! This book is also off of my Christmas list this year!

A Dance With Dragons 1: Dreams and Dust - George R.R. Martin
Part of the 'A Song Of Ice And Fire' series

'A DANCE WITH DRAGONS: DREAMS AND DUST is the FIRST part of the fifth volume in the series.
In the aftermath of a colossal battle, new threats are emerging from every direction.
Tyrion Lannister, having killed his father, and wrongfully accused of killing his nephew, King Joffrey, has escaped from King’s Landing with a price on his head.
To the north lies the great Wall of ice and stone – a structure only as strong as those guarding it. Eddard Stark's bastard son Jon Snow has been elected 998th Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch. But Jon has enemies both inside and beyond the Wall.
And in the east Daenerys Targaryen struggles to hold a city built on dreams and dust.'

Yes another from the 'A Song of Ice And Fire' series! Im sorry there has been so many of them in this All I Want For Christmas, but I started the series with the first three books and really loved it as I have said before, so I thought asking for some more for christmas was a good idea! There is one more book from this series in these All I Want For Christmas post's but after that they are completely different books I swear!

Bye  for now :)

❅❅ All I Want For Christmas, Book Two! ❅❅

For the second book in this All I Want For Christmas thing I am doing, I have chosen the second book on my christmas list, which yet again has been mentioned on my blog in the past.

A Feast For Crows - George R. R. Martin
Part of the 'A Song Of Ice And Fire' series.

'After centuries of bitter strife and fatal treachery, the seven powers dividing the land have decimated one another into an uneasy truce. But it's not long before the survivors, outlaws, renegades, and carrion eaters of the Seven Kingdoms gather. Now, as the human crows assemble over a banquet of ashes, daring new plots and dangerous new alliances are formed while surprising faces—some familiar, others only just appearing—emerge from an ominous twilight of past struggles and chaos to take up the challenges of the terrible times ahead. Nobles and commoners, soldiers and sorcerers, assassins and sages, are coming together to stake their fortunes...and their lives. For at a feast for crows, many are the guests—but only a few are the survivors.'

This has been mentioned before with the first three books of this series, and yesterdays All I Want For Christmas book was the book before this in the series.

I know I slacked again on blogging, but I am about to catch up on the All I Want For Christmas posts!

Bye for now :)

❅❅ All I Want For Christmas, Book One! ❅❅

To start off the book a day until christmas I have chosen the first one on my christmas list, which has also been mentioned on my blog in the past!

A Storm of Swords 2: Blood And Gold - George R. R. Martin
Part of the 'A Song of Ice And Fire' series

Split into two books for the paperback, the third volume in George R.R. Martin's superb and highly acclaimed epic fantasy A Song of Ice and Fire continues the richest, most exotic and mesmerising saga since The Lord of the Rings. The Seven Kingdoms are divided by revolt and blood feud, and winter approaches like an angry beast. Beyond the Northern borders, wildlings leave their villages to gather in the ice and stone wasteland of the Frostfangs. From there, the renegade Brother Mance Rayder will lead them South towards the Wall. Robb Stark wears his new-forged crown in the Kingdom of the North, but his defences are ranged against attack from the South, the land of House Stark's enemies the Lannisters. His sisters are trapped there, dead or likely yet to die, at the whim of the Lannister boy-king Joffrey or his depraved mother Cersei, regent of the Iron Throne. And Daenerys Stormborn will return to the land of her birth to avenge the murder of her father, the last Dragon King on the Iron Throne.

I have mentioned that I have the first 3 books in the 'A Song Of Ice And Fire' series, which I love, so naturally I put the fourth book down on my christmas list, as well as season one of Game of Thrones! I hope I get this book, as I really want to read on, but if I don't get it for christmas I will buy it for myself :).

That was the first book! Im not sure how to change this up a bit for the rest of the days so it's not quite as boring, but I will try to make it a bit more interesting for you guys!

Bye for now :)

❅❅ All I want for christmas! ❅❅

So I know I havent really been blogging much over the past few weeks but I have had a lot of stuff going on with university, among other things! But now its the christmas holidays and I have no excuse not to blog for you guys!

I thought it might be cool to do post a book each day from now until christmas, which is on my christmas list/ want to read list. I might also post at the end, the ones I actually got, im not sure! I have no idea if this will be that great but it's worth a shot, and it will be lots of blogging to make up for me being silent for a few weeks!

Pushing The Limits Review!

Sorry ive been a bit absent lately, I had a hand in date for uni which kept me a bit busy, so I forgot a bit about blogging! Sorry guys, I will be back on form again soon :). Anyway heres a review of Pushing The Limits by Katie McGarry!

'No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with “freaky” scars on her arms. Even Echo can’t remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everything to go back to normal.
But when Noah Hutchins--the smoking hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket--explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo’s world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible.
Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she’ll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again.'

So I bought this book on the off chance that it would be an interesting read a while back. I sort of forgot that I had bought it, until the other night when I got bored and found it. I have to say that I loved this book, and felt bad for not reading it as soon as I had bought it!

Right so this book is mainly about Echo and Noah, two teens, from different worlds, that are going through counselling for different reasons. Echo used to be the popular girl, but a major event left her as an outsider and a freak, and Noah is the bad boy, that every story seems to contain, who is trying to help his family. So obviously they meet and chemistry grows, they delve into the past and uncover the secrets hidden there. It is a pretty basic plot but its so well written that it makes a really powerful story, that keeps you sucked in the whole time! The book runs by alternating narrative between Echo and Noah, which I found a really good, as it kept it really interesting. I like alternating narratives as you get to see the story progressing from both views, not just the one character. Don't deny it we always want to know what the other characters are thinking!

Its not long until you figure out that Echo and Noah are made for each other, and their romance really helps to keep you hooked, its just so believable that they would be together. I loved them together and separately, Echo was written in a way that made it harder to relate to her, which of course is a goo thing, I don't think many of us could relate to what happened to her! Noah is made a little easier to relate to, the love he has for his brothers and the troubles he goes through can be related to, even if you have not been through it yourself, probably because it involves a true love for family.

The book runs by alternating narrative between Echo and Noah, which I found a really good, as it kept it really interesting. I like alternating narratives as you get to see the story progressing from both views, not just the one character. Don't deny it we always want to know what the other characters are thinking!

Well I can truly say that this is a great book, and I don't regret buying it for one second! It was a nice change to read something a little more serious and slightly more hard hitting than the fantasy stuff I have been reading lately! Its definitely a book I would recommend to everyone!

City of Bones Trailer!

Waiting on Wednesday!

It's been a while since I posted my last 'Waiting on Wednesday' post, and since then most of the books that were featured in it have been released! So I thought it was time to do another one! I also thought I would try making the post a little different/ look better!

I will not lose another person I love. I will not let history repeat itself.
Vincent waited lifetimes to find me, but in an instant our future together was shattered. He was betrayed by someone we both called a friend, and I lost him. Now our enemy is determined to rule over France’s immortals, and willing to wage a war to get what they want.
It shouldn’t be possible, none of it should be, but this is my reality. I know Vincent is somewhere out there, I know he’s not completely gone, and I will do anything to save him.
After what we’ve already fought to achieve, a life without Vincent is unimaginable. He once swore to avoid dying—to go against his nature and forsake sacrificing himself for others—so that we could be together. How can I not risk everything to bring my love back to me?

This is the third and final instalment in the Revenants series by Amy Plum, which is a series that I really like, and I know I can't wait for this release! Only have to wait until May 2013!

If the only way to save the world was to destroy what you loved most, would you do it?

The clock is ticking. Everyone must choose.

Passion. Power. Secrets. Enchantment.

Danger closes in around the Shadowhunters in the final installment of the bestselling Infernal Devices trilogy.

This is the third instalment in The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare! I only recently read the first two in this series but I loved them, and got sucked in as much as I did with The Mortal Instruments! This is released March 2013.

I am waiting for other releases but some of them are so far off (some in 2014!!) so I thought I would leave them until nearer the time!

Bye for now :)

Hush, Hush Review!

I have been ranting on a few times about Finale coming out, so I thought I would start reviewing the series! So here is the first in the series Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick!

'Falling for the fallen...
For Nora Grey, romance was never part of the plan. Not until Patch came along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgement.

But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora isn't sure if she can trust him. Patch seems to be everywhere she is and to know more about her than her closest friends. And when she tries to seek answers, she discovers she is right in the middle of a centuries-old battle between the immortal and the fallen... and it's time to take sides.'

I recently had to read this book again as I last read this book quite a while ago, and with the fourth and final book coming out I thought it was best to read the whole series again, and I loved it just as much as I did the last time I read it! I swear it never gets old or boring!

I do love a book about angels, mainly the fallen ones, so what could be more perfect that this book? That is exactly what I thought when I was buying this book, and it did not disappoint, it really was perfect!

The characters in this book are pretty much as you expect to be honest! But not in a bad way, in a very very good way! It includes the strong female lead and the bad boy angel, which we expect and want right? Nora (I love that name, its so different) is the main character who delves into the world of 'the immortal and the fallen'. I found that I really enjoyed reading about her, she is very strong and witty, and holds her own! Patch is Patch really! The sexy and sarcastic bad boy fallen that falls for Nora! Could I just have Patch please?

Plot time! Well what can I say? It is the kind of plot I like the most, fast paced, but obviously not speeding so fast that you loose track of what the hell is happening. It keeps you excited and doesn't allow you to get bored! I liked how things progressed at a rate you would expect them to in real life, and how things were found out and accepted by Nora.(I know that is a bit vague but I don't want to include too many spoilers in this part of the review).

The book ends in a way that made me rush out to buy Crescendo (book 2 in this series), as I absolutely needed to know what was going to happen! It is a must read book for anyone that enjoys a good fallen angel story, but also for any other reader! I definitely recommend it guys!

Bye for now :)

What I'm Reading Right Now!

This seemed like a pretty obvious post to do, especially as I haven't actually mentioned things I am currently reading, only things I have read.

The Infernal Devices: Clockwork Prince - Cassandra Clare

Im nearly at the end of this book now, and it has been a great book! I already have my next read lined up and as I have mentioned before, it will be a re-read of Hush, Hush series, so I can remember the story properly before reading Finale!

Hush, Hush - Becca Fitzpatrick

Keep an eye out as I will be posting quite a few reviews in the next week hopefully!

Game of Thrones!

So I went shopping with the mother over the weekend, and found that whilst I have been away at university, a Foyles has opened up! Well once I spotted it I ran into it, and may have gone a little crazy! I had recently managed to watch the tv adaptation of Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin, so when I saw that the books were on 3 for 2 I went for it! I had wanted to read them for a long time so I think this was a justifiable purchase!

I only got the first three in the series, as I have the Hush Hush series to re-read as well as other books coming out, so it will keep me going until christmas when my mum is getting my the rest of the books! Below are the covers of the books as some people apparently get confused by this series!

1.  A Game of Thrones

2. A Clash of Kings

3. A Storm of Swords 1: Steel And Snow

The rest of the books in the series are called: A Storm of Swords 2: Blood And Gold, A Feast For Crows, A Dance With Dragons 1: Dreams And Dust, A Dance With Dragons 2: After The Feast.

Thought I would just share with you guys my favourite character in the tv series (and probably the books as apparently they have stayed quite true to them). So my favourite character is Daenerys Targaryen.

Bye for now :).

Obsidian Review!

'Starting over sucks.
When we first moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, i'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbour, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things Were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something... unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the vegas strip. The only way i'm getting out of this is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
If I don't kill him first, that is.'

First off this is the first book I read by the fantastic Jennifer L. Armentrout, and was one of the novels that made her one of my favourite authors.

So aliens. When I first found this book I was a bit dubious about getting it as I have never really gotten into alien books. But oh was this book a whole different story! I love it! Obsidian is one of the best books I have read in a while, and it contains what we all love, the hot boy with terrible attitude ;).

The lead character, Katy, is truly a fantastic one! We will all be able to really relate to her, as she is just like us, (she even blogs guys!), so it makes the story feel even more real........ even Daemon. If only I were so lucky!

This story isn't lacking in other great characters either, which makes it even better! Not only do we have Daemon and Katy, but we have the whole little alien gang! Yes some of them we aren't supposed to like, but I still thought they were amazing characters, even if some were anti Katy.  We also have the rest of the human gang, which definitely make their stamp on the story. (Not really sure why I have made them gangs but oh well!).

Lastly the plot. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. That pretty much covers it! It was such an interesting plot, which kept me interested the whole way through the book, and yes I mean it, not once did I find myself getting bored! When the story did slow down a bit, you had the sexy fights between Katy and Daemon to keep you engrossed! This is a refreshing change from some of the books I have read lately that just had me loosing concentration and wandering off to do something else instead!

If you love a book filled with sexy scenes, action scenes and scenes that will have you laughing really hard, then this is definitely a book for you! So go buy it guys!

Finale Book Trailer!

Hey! So a while ago I posted a 'Waiting on Wednesday' and in it was the book 'Finale' which is the last instalment in Becca Fitzpatrick's bestselling Hush, Hush series!

And as you guys know I am very excited for this book, and yesterday the book trailer for it was released and it has made me ten times as excited as I was! Only a few more days until I can have it!

But anyway, heres the book trailer!

And click to see more from Becca Fitzpatrick.

Waiting on Wednesday!

Today I thought I would post about some books that I am very excited for! I picked three of some of the many books that I am waiting for to be released.

1. Finale - Becca Fitzpatrick (The final book in the Hush Hush series)

I have been waiting a long time for this book and I am very excited that the release date is just over a month away, and of course I have it pre-ordered. I fell in love with this series instantly (I am a huge lover of the whole fallen angel thing), and although I am sad to see it ending, I can't wait to see what is going to happen in the last instalment.

2. Opal - Jennifer L. Armentrout (The third book in the Lux series)

I only found the Lux series by Jennifer, recently over this past summer, as I had a lot of time to read. It is a compelling series and is the first series/ novel about aliens that I have managed to be completely sucked into! It sucks that the release date is in December, making a long wait compared to the matter of minutes I had to wait between the first two Lux books. I know it will be well worth the wait though! (There is also a countdown to this release on here!)

3. Deity - Jennifer L. Armentrout (The third book in the Covenant series)

Much the same as with the Lux series, I only found the Covenant series this summer (yes I had that much spare time this summer). I really do like this series, and apparently Jennifer L. Armentrout can do no wrong! This book is released in November, and although its a little bit of a wait, I am truly very excited. (There is also a countdown to this release on here!)

I am so excited about these books coming out that at the moment I cant concentrate properly on many other books! Thankfully these books are due for release over the next three months (October, November and December) so I wont be lacking on things to read over the next few months! Keep an eye out over this time as I will probably review some of all of these books once I have read them!

Bye for now :)

24 Hour Binge Read!

So I completely forgot to post my 'Waiting on Wednesday' post yesterday as I was far too into reading, and apparently the real world didn't matter that much! Because of this im going to save that post for next week because waiting on thursday does not quite have the same ring to it!

I thought in this post I could let you guys know the books (yes plural) I have read in the last 24hours! So I started reading the novella 'Leif' in the existence trilogy, by Abbi Glines, that I mentioned in my 'In My Mailbox' post, and got about half-way though and realised I wasn't really in the mood to read it! Now I had a problem, I wanted to read but had nothing to read, so naturally I attacked Amazon.

1. Tempting The Best Man - J. Lynn

The first book I completed in my 24 hour binge read and it was written by the very talented Jennifer L. Armentrout, and yes some may be wondering why I wrote J. Lynn above, but it is because she uses the name J. Lynn when she is writing adult romances. It was very easy to read and I finished it in one night!

2. Ceaseless - Abbi Glines

The second book I completed in my 24 hour binger read was the last in the Existence trilogy, and boy was it worth waiting for! I started reading it this morning and finished this afternoon!

This was a bit of a random post and im sorry guys! I will try to remember to do some more interesting posts on time in the future! Keep posted for some more reviews coming your way very soon!

Bye for now :)

In My Mailbox!

So guys thanks to my 20th birthday and a very nicely timed student loan, I managed to get a few books ordered! Some have Arrived and some haven't as of yet! I thought I would share with you the ones that have arrived, and that I may have read already!

First off the books that actually arrived are all from the same trilogy, which I thought sounded quite good on amazon!

1. Existence - Abbi Glines

I loved Existence so much that I read it the night that it actually arrived! I think I went to bed at about 5 in the morning, I was that drawn into the book! That lead me to wanting to carry on the trilogy right away so when the next book arrived I dived right in!

2. Predestined - Abbi Glines

This was the second book in the Existence series and I started reading as soon as I finished Existence. This one took me a little longer as I had things that I needed to do, but it was a great book to carry on the trilogy.

3. Leif - Abbi Glines

This book is 2.5 from the trilogy, so basically a novella! I am yet to start reading this book, but I definitely will do soon.

So far these are the only books that have actually arrived, even the last in this trilogy hasn't! I will probably do a proper review on these books or maybe on the trilogy as a whole once I read them all, as well as more In My Mailbox posts when the rest arrive, so keep your eyes peeled!

Bye for now :)

City of Bones Review!

I thought it was about time that I actually posted a review for you guys, but if it is a bit short I apologise, it is only my first one after all! It seemed like a good idea to start off with a book that is from one of my all time favourite series, so this is City of Bones by Cassandra Clare, and it is the first in The Mortal Instruments series.

It has been a while since I first discovered City of Bones, but it sparked an undying love that made TMI my all time favourite world to step into no matter how many times I read it! Let me say now that if you are reading this review to hear about bad points of City of Bones, the you will be disappointed. This is because I seriously can't find anything bad to say about this book, especially as I have read the rest of the series (which I may review as a whole some time in the future), and you soon see that even the annoying events in this book have a reason in the bigger picture.

'Clary Fray is seeing things: vampires in Brooklyn and werewolves in Manhattan. Irresistibly drawn towards a group of sexy demon hunters, Clary encounters the dark side of New York City - and the dangers of forbidden love.'

If your sitting there thinking 'oh great another YA book about vampires and werewolves' don't be fooled! Yes it is a book featuring the old tale of the feuding vampires and werewolves, but it is not the main focus of the book, and is told in a completely new way, with it aiding the story rather than being it. And don't worry, the vampires in this book, follow the traditional idea of vampirism, but enough of the vampires, lets get down to the Nephilim (shadowhunters or demon hunters). Nephilim are typically known for being the offspring of angels/ fallen angels and humans, but in this series they are a race made by an angel mixing his blood with a humans in a cup called 'The Mortal Cup'.

The story line to this book is definitely captivating, and draws you in with such loveable characters (especially Clace, Sizzy and Malec, to those in the know), and it will have you both laughing and crying, which only gets more intense the further through the series you get! This is a must read book and the majority of you will fall in love with it just as I have!

This book is also in the process of being turned into a movie that is anticipated to be a big hit, staring Lily Collins as Clary Fray and Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace Wayland, and is due to be released in August 2013.  I will most definitely be the first inline to see it!

Below is a photo of five of the main characters!

Bye for now :)

Five Fave Reads

I was thinking that it would be a good idea to start off with a post about some of my favourite books, and then I saw online about doing a post called 'Five Favourite Reads', and thought it would be a fun way to introduce you guys to what kind of books will be featured on my blog!

I won't go into major detail about them on this post, just name and author, as I am thinking of reviewing some of these very soon!

  1. City of Bones - Cassandra Clare
  2. Die For Me - Amy Plum
  3. The Replacement - Brenna Yovanoff
  4. Shiver - Maggie Stiefvater
  5. Obsidian - Jennifer L. Armentrout

I hope this post gave you some idea of the books you will see on here! I will hopefully have some new books by Tuesday, so look out for an 'In My Mailbox' post soon!

Bye for now :)
